There was a long pause on the other end of the line before Jim responded. “Oh no, Linda. I’m so sorry. It seems there’s been a mistake. The fish I sent you is kingfish, not cod. There was a mix-up at the docks when the labels were being applied. It was supposed to go to another restaurant.”
Linda couldn’t help but laugh despite her frustration. “Well, Jim, the customers can tell the difference! It’s not cod, and it’s not what we advertise. Can you get us the right fish today?”
Jim promised he’d send over the correct order, but not before apologizing profusely. “I’ll make sure the labels are double-checked next time. Thanks for understanding, Linda.”
Linda took a deep breath. There was no time to waste. She had to find a solution quickly. She went back to the kitchen and explained the situation to her staff. “Alright, team,” she said, “we’ve got a little mix-up with the fish, but we can fix this. Let’s tell the customers the truth and offer them a taste of something new. Kingfish, anyone?”
