Linda quickly apologized and took the plate back to the kitchen. She immediately checked the fish again, comparing the texture and flavor to the other fish they had on hand. “Miguel,” she said, “we’ve got a situation. The fish doesn’t taste like cod at all. This must be a mix-up with the supplier.”

Miguel took a look and agreed. “This is definitely not cod. This looks like kingfish or mackerel, and it has a much richer flavor. The texture is different too.”

Linda picked up the phone and immediately called Captain Jim. After a few rings, Jim answered groggily, having just returned from a long fishing trip.

“Hey, Linda,” Jim greeted her, his voice still thick with sleep. “What can I do for you?”

Linda explained the situation, telling him that the fish seemed to be mislabeled. “Jim, this isn’t cod. We’ve got a problem on our hands. The fish you sent over—it’s not what we ordered.”
