Kentucky Butter Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Cake:
    • 3 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Butter Sauce:
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
    • 3 tablespoons water
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Prepare Cake Batter:
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add buttermilk, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
  3. Bake:
    • Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Prepare Butter Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water. Cook over medium heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  5. Glaze the Cake:
    • Poke holes in the warm cake and pour the butter sauce over it. Let the cake absorb the sauce before removing from the pan.
