Kentucky Butter Cake

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Butter Glaze:

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan thoroughly.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the Batter: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
  5. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Prepare the Butter Glaze: While the cake is baking, prepare the butter glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, and water. Stir continuously until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Glaze the Cake: When the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the warm cake with a skewer or toothpick. Pour the butter glaze slowly over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  8. Serve: Once the cake has cooled and the glaze has soaked in, carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate. Slice and enjoy!

This Kentucky Butter Cake is perfect on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy this indulgent and flavorful treat!
