Classic Cherry Delight

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped to stiff peaks (or use 1 container of whipped topping)

For the Topping:

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Mix until well combined.
    • Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form an even layer.
    • Refrigerate the crust while you prepare the filling.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
    • Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until fully incorporated and smooth.
    • Gently fold in the whipped cream (or whipped topping) until the mixture is light and fluffy.
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled graham cracker crust.
  3. Add the Topping:
    • Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out to cover the entire dessert.
  4. Chill and Serve:
    • Cover the dessert and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until fully set.
    • Cut into squares and serve chilled.
